Reminding you that the Lobby 101 meeting is this Wednesday at the shelter - 6:00 PM, 300 Snow Drive, Birmingham 35209. Be sure to bring your zip code plus 4 (35209-2471). You will leave knowing who you need to contact in your districts. You will also leave knowing the pieces of legislation that we will be trying to pass through this year. It matters not who you are with but that you are an interested citizen in animal welfare for the State of ALabama. GBHS is not aligning with any one group, rather we are offering good information as to how and why bills get passed.
Mindy Gilbert with HSUS will be leading the group in "How a Bill is Born". HSUS sponsors and pays for a Lobbyist.
Ronda Parker with AVRAL will be there to explain what a PAC is and to allow you to join as members if you wish.
GBHS has a Board "Legislative" committee that advocates for animal welfare. We are not aligned with any group but try to work hand in hand with all of these groups toward one goal, the same goal on the same page.
Alabama Humane Federation (AHF) is a 501c4 and also lobby for animal welfare statewide.
